26 / 10 / 2022

Today, Russian Industry Week 2022 hosts the Youth Day, organised by EXPOCENTRE AO in partnership with the event's operator PRIORITET OOO.

The Youth Day is designed to unlock the professional and creative potential of the participants, and to draw attention to the issues of training and future employment of young professionals.

The central event is the TechnoLeaderNEXT competition between student teams from institutions of higher and secondary vocational education that train specialists for the manufacturing industry.

The competition is aimed at promoting intellectual development and an interest in technical science while mastering a speciality and choosing a profession. The aim is to identify gifted young people and increase students' interest in fundamental training as the basis of their professional activities, as well as to attract young specialists to work at major industry companies.

The participants included 20 teams of students of technical universities and colleges from different cities and regions of the country, such as Moscow's Panov College of Modern Technologies, the Razumovsky Moscow State Technical University, STANKIN, the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, Chekhov Technical College (Chekhov), the Tumanov Stupino Technical College (Stupino), and the Don State Technical University (Rostov-on-Don), Tomsk Polytechnic University (Tomsk), Institute of Shipbuilding and Marine Arctic Technology (Severodvinsk) and others.

The main block of the competition included several activities. In the first preliminary stage of TechnoStart, teams had to prepare their video presentations in a creative format in advance, mentioning their name, slogan, logo, and the institution they were representing.

The AVTOVAZ TechnoDebate opened the competition at Expocentre Fairgrounds. During the debates, while answering technical questions, the participants had to demonstrate oratory skills and the ability to communicate with an audience and argue their case in addition to their knowledge.

Next was the TechnoSmart quiz, in which participants had to show their knowledge of history and theory. The teams also had to complete the tasks of the TechnoPractice quest, which dealt with the practical application of theoretical knowledge.

In addition, the competition included an educational block. The teams had the opportunity to talk directly to representatives of the industry's largest employers at a specially organised Career Fair.

Students were also able to take part in a Panel on Advanced Training in the Conditions of Industrial Modernisation. Experts discussed the staffing situation in the industry, issues of training young professionals, and new formats of interaction between employers and educational institutions. Finally, there will be a talk show entitled "TechnoMaster: My Success Story", where the Youth Day participants will be introduced to the success stories of respected industry representatives who have worked their way up from novice specialists to management positions.

The Youth Day will end with an awards ceremony. The first three places will be awarded with cups, valuable prizes from the competition partners and certificates of merit. Teams that do not place will receive diplomas of participation and commemorative prizes.
